In Progress

Okay, here’s how she looked as of April 2007.

You can see that the rear (North) straw bale wall has been built—it has a base coat of lime plaster inside and out—and that its window as well as the windows of the round dining alcove are framed in. The East adobe wall (behind the alcove) was also built and the windows framed, and the West cob-adobe wall (left side) has been built to just below the second floor. THAT MEANS…we’re going to build up the rest of the walls using adobe bricks, cob and (on the loft floor) clay-straw (which is cut straw soaked with clay slip and a good method for walls that need to be insulated).

This sketch shows how the doors and windows on the front (South) cob wall have been planned.

Won’t she be darling!
